SAILING & REGATTAS
Founded in 1938 by a group of friends who shared a passion for the sea, Club de Pesca y Vela has grown from a tight-knit sportfishing club into a thriving hub for sailing on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. The club’s name now reflects both sides of its maritime heritage - pesca and vela - honoring the vision of founders like “Pepino” and "Lucho" Mogollón, who helped popularize small-boat sailing in Cartagena nearly a century ago.
Today, CDPV hosts a dynamic calendar of sailing activity, from casual Saturday races to major national regattas, youth training camps, and the region’s largest sailing event: Cartagena Sailing Week. Whether crewing on a yacht, coaching young sailors, or rounding the buoys in a Sunfish, members and guests alike share in the spirit of camaraderie and seamanship that has always defined the club.
